Suspended Artifact: Urn with Lashed Tusks by William Morris
The Shaman’s Pot
A giant red tear-drop with two ladles protruding
hangs suspended by an antler next to two elephant tusks.
The base of the pot has been netted to keep the spirits in.
A magic brew once simmered over an open wood fire.
It bubbled and steamed sending tiny particles of hope
into the air, hope for good hunting, hope for rain,
hope for sun, hope for good water, hope for good fire,
hope for good dreams, hope for strength and courage.
It has grown cold
but if you look long and hard enough you can see
the joy it once brought to those who believed.
